During the first lockdown of 2020, Ecumene Project started a virtual KULA exchange ceremony. Given the times we were/are living in, an act of connection takes a deeper meaning. Participants from everywhere joined this virtual ritual. KULA Couples were formed; they shared personal creations with each other and then worked on creating something new, inspired from what they received from their exchange partner.
Suddenly, a net came alive, dots were connected on the KULA map. Each couple faced a challenge of communication in its own way, to become a case of shared memory. This virtual exhibition is a selection and documentation of such a process. It is both a monologue and a dialogue, depending on the point of view.
But most importantly, it’s a shared memory.
